Waterloo International Chamber Music Festival
Festival Mozart Heritage & Legacy
Nearly 180 concerts & 130 musicians invited since 1995
Created with the support of Minister Serge Kubla, Mayor of Waterloo, the Festival Mozart is a unique festival inviting an exceptional number of International musicians staying in residence in Waterloo and performing together at nearly every concert of the festival.
The founders of the festival, who were also the Artistic Directors from 1996 till 2009, are pianist Dalia Ouziel, violinist Jerrold Rubenstein and violist Vladimir Mendelssohn. Since 2009, the Artistic direction has been taken over by Daniel Rubenstein, himself violinist, violist and pianist.
The festival broaden its activities since 2012 by adding Masterclasses open to young musicians, a Young Artists program which is selecting some young very promising musicians and presenting them to the public in groups where they play together with the musicians of the festival, as well as the addition of exhibitions, catering, successions of concerts, making the Festival Mozart not only a great musical event but also a delightful meeting place.
In 2023, the Festival Mozart, under the name of Waterloo International Chamber Music Festival, gave its first edition in Japan, at the invitation of the Nagakute Cultural Center and Municipality, as well as in Yokohama and Tokyo under the aegis of the Embassy of Belgium.
